Hill Farmstead Brewery is a farmstead brewery in North Greensboro, in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, on land the Hill family has worked for eight generations. Peleg Hill Sr. and Jr. arrived in Greensboro in 1791, and the family helped found the town and built its first roads, mills and, in 1809, a tavern. That tavern’s sign inspired the brewery’s logo. Founder Shaun Hill brewed his first homebrew for a high school science project and later studied philosophy at Haverford College. He brewed at small Vermont breweries and then at Nørrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen, where he won World Beer Cup medals under mentor Anders Kissmeyer. He came back in 2009 and opened the brewery in 2010 on land that has been in his family for generations. Visitors can drink draft beer and vintage bottles on site, fill growlers, and buy cans and bottles at the retail shop.
