Champlain Orchards

About

Champlain Orchards is a family-owned orchard and hard cider maker in Shoreham, in the Champlain Valley, and one of the oldest continuously operating orchards in Vermont. Bill Suhr bought 60 acres there in 1998, at 27, hoping to live sustainably off the land despite having no experience growing apples. With help from knowledgeable neighbors and his wife and business partner, Andrea Scott, the orchard has grown to more than 220 acres. It now grows more than 175 varieties of eco-certified fruit, including more than 115 apple varieties along with peaches, pears, plums, cherries, nectarines and berries. The orchard makes a range of hard ciders and also makes handcrafted provisions, including pies. Visitors can stop at the farm market, pick their own fruit in season, relax in the cider garden, or book a tour or experience. Cider, fruit and gift boxes are also sold online.
