Hogback Mountain Brewery

Hogback Mountain Brewery is a small craft brewery and taproom in Bristol. Kevin Hanson founded it in 2015 and started out brewing in his carriage barn. In 2018 he sold the business to Jamie and Sam Sawyer, two pharmacists with four children who wanted a fresh start in Vermont’s craft beer scene. The Sawyers moved the brewery to a new space in Bristol, which they renovated for brewing and a taproom. Sam, a 2017 graduate of the American Brewers Guild, is the creative force behind many of the recipes. The brewery focuses on Vermont beers made with Vermont-grown ingredients, and its beers are sold in stores around the state as well as at the taproom. The taproom serves food for dining in or takeout, with indoor and outdoor seating. It also hosts private parties and regular events such as trivia nights.
