The Tropic Brewing

Family-run The Tropic Brewing runs a small brewery and 21-seat taproom in the heart of Waterbury, on Foundry Street. Its beer takes inspiration from the tropics and from past and future adventures. The focus is on lighter, sessionable beers, many of them below 5% ABV, as a counterpoint to the hazy IPAs common in Vermont. Typical pours are crisp lagers, smaller-scale IPAs, sours and a blonde ale brewed with coconut. The bar also makes beer cocktails, among them a house michelada. Bar snacks are available with a pint. The taproom hosts trivia, karaoke and art lessons, and its calendar lists special events. A separate space called the Bear Den houses a golf simulator. The brewery has been covered by the Vermont weekly Seven Days and by Yankee Brew News. It is a small, neighborhood-scale stop for anyone looking for easy-drinking beer in Waterbury.
